The Land Art Project

What is land Art

Land Art is an art movement that originated in the 60’s and 70’s. Artwork, from small pieces to enormous installations, are created using natural, found materials such as ricks and twigs. Often these are local to the work. Sometimes the works, sand patterns for example, are designed to be temporary; the incoming tide obliterating the design becomes part of the work.

Land Art at Collingwood

At Collingwood we spent a fun filled week outdoors creating outdoor Land Art. In our year groups we collected lots of different natural art materials from around school and we even collected some from where we live. From twigs, branches, grass, shells, rocks and other found items we created a range of artworks from patterns, pictures and tree hangers.

We look forward to creating more Land Art in the future.
