Writer in Residence
Open to all Key Stage 3 and 4 students with a passion for storytelling!
The successful candidate will create written responses to events
taking place within the school, our local area, and the wider
community. The Writer-in-Residence may also choose to produce
other creative writing inspired by different things.
The written responses may take the form of poetry, prose (micro-
fics*, flash fiction**, short stories***), or creative non-fiction****.
They may also be in the form of a spoken-word performance.
Applicants should submit THREE pieces of original creative
The closing date for applications is 1 st August 2020.
The successful applicant will be provided with writing materials.
*micro-fics: short stories up to 100 words long
**flash fiction: short stories up to 1,000 words long
***short stories: between 1,000 and 3,000 words long
****creative non-fiction: putting a creative twist on real events, sometimes by changing minor details
