Activity 1 - Context

You are lost in the desert.

Consider the following questions: 

How are you going to keep yourself safe?

How are you going to get rescued?

Activity 2 - Context

Information about Lord of the Flies:

 

A group of boys crash-lands on a deserted island.

The boys need to figure out:

– how to survive while they are there 

– how to get rescued.

Information:

  • There is a war happening in the adult world
  • The boys’ ages range from 5-12 years
  • Some are scared and are missing home
  • It is very hot.

 

Consider how these items might help to keep the boys alive. Write an explanation for at least 3 items. Choose those that you think would be most helpful. 

Activity 3

As the boys are stranded on the Desert Island, a new society is formed. Only the boys are present on the island. 

 

What rules do you think the boys should put into place? Why are they important?

Activity 4

Which three words would describe a good leader? Why would the other words not demonstrate a good leader? 

Activity 5

Consider yourself! If you were a leader, what would you change, promote and keep the same? This could be linked to home, school or the whole country! You decide!

 

Write a speech to deliver to others, to persuade them to vote for you.
